Overview

Philip N. Hammersley is a Shareholder in the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He focuses his practice on complex construction litigation, commercial and residential real estate disputes, and trust and property litigation. Philip represents contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, design professionals, developers, owners, landlords, tenants, lenders, trustees, personal representatives, and beneficiaries in all phases of dispute resolution, including mediation, trial, arbitration, and appeal. He is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator.

Before joining Trenam, Mr. Hammersley was a partner at a Sarasota law firm for more than 30 years.

With decades of experience, Philip has handled a wide range of construction, commercial, and real estate matters involving condominiums, multi-family developments, single-family residences, and other real property disputes. He is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Philip earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Economics, from the University of Florida in 1975 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida College of Law in 1979. He has maintained an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell for more than 20 years, reflecting the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards.

Active in both the legal and local communities, Philip previously served on The Florida Bar Committee on the Code and Rules of Evidence and held several leadership roles with the Sarasota County Bar Association, including Treasurer and President. He has also served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations, including YMCA Children & Youth Services, the Argus Foundation, and the Education Foundation of Sarasota County.
