On May 13, 2022, the Tampa Bay Business Journal featured the addition of Sheryl Hunter to Trenam Law. She departs from her Hunter Business Law, which she founded in 2000 to focus on the then-budding startup scene, and joins Trenam as a larger firm to better serve clients in Tampa Bay’s technology scene, which has grown into one of the nation’s largest since Hunter started her practice.
“I’m having to turn away so much work; we get a lot of opportunities, but we haven’t had the bandwidth to pick it up,” Hunter told the Tampa Bay Business Journal. “It’s such a passion to work with entrepreneurial startups and fast-growth companies, and I want to be able to serve them at the highest level. So I need a deeper bench for that.”
In fact, Hunter has a vision of “Trenam Tech,” with an eye of a more intentional focus for the firm on working with tech-focused companies. “I feel like Trenam is well-positioned, and I can put a lot of gasoline on it to take ownership of this opportunity and bring it to full fruition,” she said. “And the tech scene… the only way it’ll continue to grow is to have professional services they can really rely on and leverage to thrive.”
Ultimately, Hunter’s move is a significant career move that is focused on client service and service to the tech community. “Of course, I have very conflicted emotions because it’s been my baby and my brand,” Hunter added. “But I don’t’ want to get to the point where I’m not giving the best possible solutions to my clients.”
